Welcome to North Country Union High School

Daily Announcements 3. 10. 25

Good morning Falcons.

Today is Monday, March 10th,  and it is an M day.

Our Student of the Week is Joseph Grady. Joseph completes his homework, maintains good academic standing in class, is always ready to learn, and actively participates in the learning process. He is always respectful and polite toward others, and he works well with peers during collaborative learning. Great work Joseph.

Our Spotlight Student of the Week is Nathan Horner. Nate is a ceramics aide and is absolutely rocking it! Ms. Caspari really enjoys having such a thoughtful, responsible, and engaged student helping to care for the studio. Congratulations Nate.

Our Fantastic Falcon of the Week is Sarah Roy. She was nominated for the important work she does helping to re-engage students in their learning. We appreciate you Sarah.

The NCU Falcon Robotics Team of Drew Anderson, Braeden Labor and Brady Provost competed this past weekend at the VT/NH VEX Robotics State Tournament at Manchester Community College (NH) where the top 40 teams across the two states competed in this year's tournament. They held their own in the Skills Challenge,  placing 13th out of 39 teams with a combined score of 37 points. In tournament play, they finished match play with a record of 1-7. In each round they continued trying to learn and adjust to improve. True character that all parents/community should be proud of.

Our Model United Nations students attended the 47th Annual North Country Model UN Conference in Plattsburgh on Thursday and Friday last week. They represented their assigned countries incredibly well, and were the first Vermont students to attend the conference in 15 years! Everyone was commenting on how well they carried themselves. They represented their school and community incredibly well, and are already looking forward to next year's conference.

The students that attended were:

Ben West, Representing India on the Security Council

Braydon Villeneuve and Broderick Niles, Representing Greece on the Legal Committee

Avery Drown and Keegan Gaylor, Representing Guatemala on the Legal Committee

Katelin Booth and Daphne Horne, Representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the Legal Committee

Aero Brunell, Representing Belgium on the Political Committee

The Girls' basketball battled a tough Hartford team on Saturday. The Falcons locked in defensively in the 4th quarter to secure the 43-33 win, sending them to the Semi-Finals. Sabine Brueck led the way with 20 points and Addie Nelson added 8 points. Now our North Country Lady Falcons are heading to the Barre AUD on Wednesday. The D2 semi-final match-up will be your #1 North Country Falcons versus #5 Middlebury Tigers at 7:45pm. We would love to fill the AUD with Falcon fans. The game will be broadcast on NFHS Network. It does require a subscription to watch. VPA tickets can be purchased at the VPA Events and Tickets by GoFan. General Admission: $10 Student/Senior: $5 Balcony Tickets can be purchased at the door.
